leverage
RSS is something that has been puzzling me for some time. I am working away at fully understanding syndication and when I do, I sure won’t keep it a secret! The dictionary meaning springs from two Greek words meaning “with justice”. Hmm not much help there. Newspapers have syndicated writers – meaning their columns are republished all over the country – or world for that matter.
That’s a little more helpful – being published all over the place is just what a blogger wants
In a blog we have the mysterious RSS which means “Really Simple Syndication” according to some and “Rich Site Summary”.
For now just take it that RSS means that you have less work to do when you write a blog post – RSS does the heavy lifting of making a summary of your post and republishing throughout the web.
The more viewers your posts get the more traffic you are going to get…which translates into greater earnings. OK I admit there’s a couple of assumptions in that chain of reasoning
Bear that in mind as you watch this short video. It is narrated by C harles Heflin – an expert in web traffic and SEO/ Web 2.0. I have watched this guy for a couple of years and always found him to be spot on.
What this short video, (which is well worth watching a few time – Charles packs a lot into a few words) emphasises – is the power of blogs. They are automatically built with an RSS system which if used with the power of leverage of web 2.o will grow blog traffic automatically
More on this absorbing stuff soon
